Mayan Temazcal ceremony, cenote and fresh local food

6 hours and 30 minutes

Moderate

Experience a traditional Mayan Temazcal ceremony, swim in a cenote, and enjoy local fresh food for a unique cultural and wellness journey.
The Sacred Temazcal Ceremony
Step into the womb of the Earth, where the ancient stones—our Grandmothers—hold the fire’s wisdom. Guided by the sacred chants of the shaman, we invoke the healing powers of the four elements:

Fire to burn away what no longer serves you
Water to purify the body and soul
Air to cleanse the mind
Earth to ground and renew your spirit

As the aromatic steam rises from the healing waters of medicinal plants, you will feel layers of past burdens dissolve. This is a space to release and awaken the powerful being within.

A Renewal Ritual
After the purification, we emerge into the open air and immerse ourselves in freshwater, revitalizing our bodies and sealing in the transformation.

A Feast for Soul
We complete our sacred circle with nourishment of a meal prepared in the ancestral way. Handmade tortillas, rich black beans, white rice, and the legendary tamales pibil, slow-cooked beneath the earth’s embrace. Vegetarian options are available as well, upon request.

    What to bring

For a temazcal ceremony and cenote experience, it’s best to come prepared for both heat and refreshing water:

      • Swimsuit (you’ll wear it for both temazcal and cenote)
      • Towel
      • Change of clothes
      • Flip-flops or water shoes
      • Reusable water bottle (to stay hydrated)
      • Light, comfortable clothing
      • Hair tie (if you have long hair)

Important: Avoid sunscreen, perfumes, or lotions, as they interfere with the temazcal ritual and can harm the cenote’s ecosystem.

      Optional:
      • Rash guard for cold protection
      • Small waterproof bag for personal items

Come with an open mind; this is as much a spiritual journey as a physical one.
